Elizabeth Quay's new Gelateria, made with Gusto
Gusts of wind could not blow us away more than the new Gusto Gelateria at the fabulous new Elizabeth Quay. Yes, you should venture down to the harbour and grab a scoop ($5) or 2 ($8) or 3($10).
Gusto points out that their gelato is different from ice-cream in three important ways -
- Gelato has less fat - a third less fat
- Gelato has less air - you get more value
- Gelato is less cold - served at -13 degrees instead of the usual -20 degrees
They have flavours to suit the sweet tooths, vegans, gluten free and dairy free. Their flavours vary but usually include for example- sour cherry, apple pie, cheesecake, salted caramel, cookie monster. Some of their specialty flavours are - Brittle Sweet Symphony - Smooth honey gelato laced with rough cut pieces of almond brittle and dark chocolate and Chief Wiggum - Cafe latte gelato with a rich caramel sauce and pieces of cinnamon donut.
We tried a special flavour they had on offer a delectable representation of the Wagon Wheel, which had creamy gelato, studded with tiny marshmallows, shortbread biscuit pieces, chocolate chips, and strawberry jam. It was a delicious and accurate representation of Wagon Wheel cookies. We also tried their cappuccino flavour which had sultry tones of caffeinated goodness mixed with delicious creamy gelato.
Be sure to stop by the cute hexagonal shop, grab a gelato and go for a stroll around the harbour with its glorious lights.
