Hot Diggity Dog - Frank'd
Hot Diggity Dog! Perth finally has an exciting new eatery dedicated solely to hot dogs. The name Frank’d could not be more fitting and as they purport, they deliver hot dogs with character.
Frank’d is fresh, as much as it is fun. You cannot help but smile when you read the menu – Red Dog (with crunchy red cabbage and apple slaw), El Chupacabra (with tomato salsa, garlic, parsley, smashed corn chips and cheese), and even Slumdog Squillianaire (with spiced chickpeas, roasted peppers, paprika and mint). The rolls are lovely and soft and the bratwurst is grilled to perfection. There is no oiliness to these dogs! What gives them their individual character are the toppings which are so varied. We tried the Hush Puppy with portobello mushrooms, onions and coriander ($12) and the German Sheppard, which is topped with sauerkraut, American mustard and tomato sauce ($10). Both were lip smacking good to the last bite. We can hardly wait to go back with friends and work our way through the menu.
Don’t forget to order some sides and our picks would be the chilli cheese fries which are practically a meal at a bargain price of ($9). Also the buttered Sriracha corn at a mere $4 is a must try. To add an element of fun you can avail of endless old school soft drinks like lemonade and vintage Cola for the low low price of $2. Vegetarians are not left out as they can have the bratwurst replaced with a delicious vegetarian sausage.
The menu is bright and lively, from its flashing neon hot dog sign, to the various wieners painted all over the walls, the emphasis is on light hearted fun and to this end, they have achieved their aim. For your convenience if you are enjoying a gin cocktail or two at Frisk, you can order off the Frank’d menu and they will deliver.
The staff were exceedingly friendly, courteous and willing to please. All in all, it was a delightful dining experience which we can hardly wait to repeat.
Sadly NOW CLOSED.
